Disc couplings from R+L Hydraulics with ATEX certification

R+L Hydraulics now offers Lovejoy disc couplings with ATEX certification. The specialist for power transmission technology and hydraulic accessories is owned by American coupling manufacturer Lovejoy Inc. and distributes the couplings throughout Europe. Typical applications for the ATEX-certified disc couplings are pumps and compressors for use in hazardous areas, such as the petrochemical industry. The disc couplings are suitable for rough environmental conditions. They are wear-free and excel with their high torsional rigidity and zero backlash. Lovejoy disc couplings furthermore require no maintenance and can be inspected without being dismantled. For use in hazardous areas, devices and components are classified according to device category, temperature class, explosion group and ambient temperature. The disc couplings’ certification covers the following categories: Ex II 2 GD c 135°C (T4) and Ex I M2 c for couplings with torques up to 259 kNm and Ex II 2 GD c 100°C (T5) as well as Ex I M2 c for torque values up to 4.6 kNm. There are ten versions of ATEX-certified disc couplings, covering a torque range from 0.24 kNm to 259 kNm. In addition to basic versions, various more sophisticated types with intermediate shafts or spacers are available. They are typically used in pumps and compressors. Specifically for use in the petrochemical industry, a series with spacer and guard ring – that fulfils the requirements of standard API 610 – is available. Programmable proportional amplifier for stationary hydraulics

At the 2015 Hannover Trade Fair, Ruppel Hydraulik presented a new proportional amplifier designed for applications in stationary hydraulics.   The basis of the new single-channel device is an amplifier developed by Ruppel for an application in mobile hydraulics, and more specifically, speed control of a hydraulically powered sweeper attached to a municipal utility vehicle. This single-channel amplifier for controlling a single or double solenoid has now been adapted to meet the specific requirements of stationary hydraulics. The output current strength has a wide range of adjustment, as has the dither frequency, with the result that the amplifier can be customised to suit a wide range of valve types and applications. The target value can be specified via an integrated potentiometer; an on/off switch is also integrated in the device. The selected potentiometer setting can be locked, and external locking and release are also possible. In addition, the rotational direction of the potentiometer can be programmed, i.e. the user can decide whether a clockwise turn increases or decreases the target value. Because a minimum and maximum value, as well as defined ramps for opening and closing the valve can also be programmed, the amplifier allows flexible customisation of the hydraulic function to the specific application. The safety features of the amplifier include short circuit, overcurrent and overvoltage protection. Among its other qualities, the proportional amplifier is very reasonably priced. Quick Disconnect Couplings Provide Solution for Most Demanding Fluid Transfer Applications

Diversified industrial manufacturer Eaton Corporation today announced the extension of its range of flat face couplings with the stainless steel Gromelle MLDB series dry break quick disconnect couplings for use in fluid transfer applications. The 316L stainless steel construction provides superior resistance to corrosion caused by aggressive environments and media, increases the reliability and lifetime of the coupling and meets the needs of the most challenging fluid transfer tasks in industries such as Food and Chemical Processing, which requires cleanable fluid conveyance components. Designed and manufactured in accordance with Article 3.3 of the European Pressure Equipment Directive (PED) 97/23 EC, these serviceable and cleanable couplings are designed for pressures of up to 25 bar (360 PSI), and feature a safety sleeve lock that prevents accidental disconnection when the couplings are connected. Eaton’s New Flat Face Couplings

Diversified industrial manufacturer Eaton Corporation today introduced its new Gromelle™ Flat Face Connect Under Pressure (FFCUP) quick disconnect coupling series for use in applications found in the construction, agricultural and other industrial sectors. Designed and manufactured in accordance with Article 3.3 of the European Pressure Equipment Directive (PED) 97/23 EC, the design for which Eaton applied a patent allows for connection under pressures of up to 350 bar (5075 PSI). Meeting the dimensional requirements of ISO 16028, the FFCUP series couplings are interchangeable with ISO 16028 female couplings to bring the benefits of connection under residual pressure to demanding applications. The push-to-connect design incorporates double shut-off flat face valves, ensuring there is no fluid loss when connecting or disconnecting. Eaton’s Gromelle FFCUP couplings are manufactured in plated carbon steel providing superior corrosion protection in the most challenging environments. They are equipped both with nitrile (NBR) and polyurethane (AU) seals in order to optimize mechanical resistance. For easy visual identification and to help prevent mixing of connections, colour rings are available for the FFCUP plugs and the mating of Gromelle MLFF and FF series sockets.
