Integrated Machine Automation And AI Supported Robotic Systems

Yaskawa is presenting current solutions from the fields of drive technology, motion control, and robotics at SPS 2026, taking place from November 24 to 26, 2026, in Nuremberg. The system architectures presented in Hall 7 at Booth 340 aim to optimize industrial automation, building infrastructures, and data centers.

Core Technology and System Architecture
At the center of the technological presentation are the iCube Control automation platform and the MOTOMAN NEXT robotics system. The system architecture of iCube Control enables the convergence of machine automation and robotics, whereby, for example, Delta and SCARA robots operate synchronously with servo technology via MotoPick4 without additional controllers. The MOTOMAN NEXT system integrates edge computing capacities via the NVIDIA Jetson Orin NX for autonomous path planning and AI-based image processing. This architecture is complemented by frequency inverters such as the HV600 for heating, ventilation, and air conditioning technology, which offers cascade control and dry run protection, as well as the U1000 technology for reducing network harmonics.

Deployment or Implementation
The implementation of these automation solutions occurs through the integration of robotics as a native component of machine automation, eliminating the need for separate subsystems. At the trade fair, technical specialists analyze the specific requirements for networking IT technologies with classic hardware. The presented frequency inverters are implemented directly into building automation systems and cooling circuits to ensure soft starts of motors and plant components in complex industrial networks.

Industrial Applications
The drive and robotics systems are aimed at the packaging industry, material handling, and the building and data center air conditioning sector. Specific technical use cases include the automation of hand-eye coordination tasks, where situational decision-making is required, as well as the reliable operation of large HVAC systems. The provision of these integrated hardware and software solutions ensures process stability in discrete manufacturing and optimizes resource management in the digital infrastructure.

Operational Impact and Performance Metrics
The integration of robot control into a unified system environment reduces the number of required hardware components and simplifies the maintenance of industrial plants. The deployment of the MOTOMAN NEXT platform enables the efficient automation of previously uneconomical processes, which measurably increases overall productivity. The precise speed control of the AC drives also lowers energy consumption in air conditioning technology and minimizes mechanical stress, thereby significantly extending the service life of the plant components.
