Schaeffler AG and Wandelbots have agreed on a technology partnership for the further development of the open robotics platform Wandelbots NOVA. The cooperation aims at the comprehensive implementation of Artificial Intelligence in industrial and humanoid robotics within Schaeffler's global production network.

Technical Architecture And Virtual Testing
The Wandelbots NOVA platform connects various robot systems through a standardized software infrastructure. For the digital testing of the systems, the partners use the NVIDIA technologies Omniverse and Isaac Sim. This virtual environment makes it possible to digitally simulate, validate, and optimize production workflows and robot tasks before they are deployed in physical manufacturing. This facilitates standardization and supports an efficient rollout.

System Scaling And Central Skill Store
The validated control models are bundled in a central Skill Store, which systematically secures applications, models, and technical knowledge. This infrastructure allows Schaeffler to use capabilities developed in individual projects independently of the respective system and scale them globally to other plants. The standardization of the development and implementation processes aims to reduce the costs of automation solutions over the entire lifecycle in new and existing production environments by up to 40 percent.

The technical feasibility of Physical AI in manufacturing forms the foundation for accelerated application development to increase the flexibility of robots.
