Tekniker showcases robotic metrology system at BIEMH 2026

Tekniker will present an integrated solution that merges collaborative robotics, digital metrology and smart factory digitalisation at BIEMH 2026, taking place from 2–6 March in Bilbao. Developed in collaboration with ZEISS, KUKA and SCHUNK, the demonstrator targets advanced manufacturing sectors such as automotive, aeronautics, energy and precision component production.

The system integrates flexible automation with high-precision, in-line measurement, enabling fully automated identification, picking, positioning and dimensional inspection of parts with nearly identical geometries. By combining robotic handling and digital metrology within a single workflow, the solution performs quality verification and automatic classification directly on the production line.

Flexible automation meets in-process metrology
At the core of the demonstrator is a robotic measurement cell that merges component visualisation, handling, measurement and sorting into one automated system. According to Tekniker, the key innovation lies in coupling flexible part feeding with advanced metrology to achieve continuous, barrier-free quality control in industrial environments.

The solution incorporates ZEISS’s DuraMax coordinate measuring system, designed for production-floor conditions and high-precision inspection. KUKA contributes a seven-axis collaborative robotic arm optimised for safe, accurate handling alongside human operators, while SCHUNK provides clamping and gripping systems to secure parts reliably during measurement.

Tekniker complements these technologies with its proprietary Smart Picking asset, enabling robot guidance through machine vision in unstructured environments. The system determines the position and orientation of components and directs the robot to manipulate and inspect them accordingly.

Data-driven manufacturing integration
Beyond automation and metrology, the solution integrates Tekniker’s Smart Factory Hub software, enabling real-time data capture, production monitoring and learning-based decision support. This digital layer allows manufacturers to manage critical process data and continuously optimise operations.

By consolidating robotics, metrology and plant digitalisation into a single architecture, the demonstrator reflects the growing convergence of automation and data intelligence in next-generation factories.

The system will be exhibited at the Tekniker stand (Hall 1, Aisle E24) during BIEMH 2026.
