TDK Corporation and LG Innotek have entered into a strategic partnership to develop sensing technologies for physical AI systems. The collaboration combines optical module engineering with sensor technologies to create integrated vision and haptic sensing modules for humanoid robots and related industrial applications.

Joint development for physical AI
The partnership focuses on developing next-generation sensing modules that support physical AI systems, particularly humanoid robots. Target application areas include robotics, industrial automation, intelligent machines and other systems requiring environmental perception and physical interaction.

LG Innotek contributes its expertise in optical and ultra-precision module design, while TDK provides a portfolio of sensing technologies, including inertial sensors, position sensors and microphones. The cooperation addresses the increasing demand for multi-sensor integration, where different sensing technologies operate together to improve environmental awareness and object interaction.

Integrated sensing architecture
As part of the collaboration, the companies will conduct joint research to integrate LG Innotek's vision sensing modules with TDK sensor technologies. The resulting modules are intended to combine image capture with motion, position and acoustic sensing within a unified platform.
