BAUMER PRESENTS ROBUST ENCODER FOR MAXIMUM SAFETY AT MOBILE MACHINES

The ever-increasing automation level at mobile machines goes together with a growing demand for safety solutions, which in turn entails additional expenses. Safety-certified components such as absolute encoder EAM580RS ease the way since they reduce implementation effort and cost. With EAM580RS, Baumer is one of the first manufacturers to meet the latest requirements of functional safety (SIL2/PLd according to IEC 61508, ISO 13849:2023 and IEC 61800-5-3). This safety certificate will ease and accelerate engineering work and in parallel system certification since it significantly simplifies additional documentation. With the new EAM580RS, encoder and sensor expert Baumer is further extending its encoder portfolio for safety-relevant applications.

Safe, robust, precise - particularly developed for harsh outdoor applications
EAM580RS is more than just a more robust variant of an industrial encoder. This magnetic safety encoder has been especially developed for rough deployment in outdoor applications and mobile machines like loading and tower cranes as well as mobile working platforms. Safely protected against aggressive environmental impacts and media by a stainless steel casing, the encoder is also immune to shock and vibrations. Maximum safety requires maximum precision and speed. The powerful EAM580RS excels by peak performance in precision and ultra-fast transmission rates. Hence, it will significantly boost the performance of the machinery having it installed.

Easy configuration and valuable secondary data
Further to the robust safety design, EAM580RS offers the benefit of secondary data easy to use. It provides information on revolutions, operating time and input voltage for machine monitoring and many more purposes. Using the Baumer Sensor Suite freeware, the new Baumer encoder for mobile machines and outdoor applications can be easily configured to meet the most varied requirements.

EAM580RS with clamping flange is immediately available, in hollow shaft design as of Q1 2024.
